Snow Machine Effects

The "modern" solution to making it snow on stage is the fluid-based snow machine. These are available from a number of manufacturers including CITC and Le Maitre.

The perfect storm, or as CITC calls it, the "Dream Team" - the Little Blizzard Snow Machine paired up with the Hurricane Fan to create a great falling snow effect.

CITC Little Blizzard®

The Little Blizzard can be run for extended periods of time without overheating. It is insulated for noise control and has a flake size adjustment paddle, two-speed motor, remote control and DMX on-board.

The Little Blizzard line of fluids creates an extremely dry flake that floats over long distances. The water content evaporates quickly leaving a beautiful falling flake that is dry to the touch and disappears after contact leaving no residue or mess. The Little Blizzard fluids are available in a range of formulations to address various environmental/application conditions.

• Little Blizzard® Super Extra Dry - The lightest floating flakes possible and the driest flake in the industry. Flakes capable of traveling 30 - 50'.
• Little Blizzard® Extra Dry - An extremely dry flake that floats over longer distances. Flakes capable of traveling 50 - 70'.
• Little Blizzard® LB-32° (0° C) - Extra Dry fluid for outdoor freezing conditions.
• Little Blizzard® Dry - Creates snowflakes that float a little longer for applications where snow flakes are blown 50 - 99'. Not appropriate for short falls.

Le Maitre True North Snow Machine

A modestly priced snow machine, capable of variable output from a light, fluffy snowfall to a raging snow storm.

Le Maitre Silent Storm DMX Snow Machine

A quieter snow machine, also capable of variable output, with built-in 2-channel DMX for both fan speed and flow control. 70% more output than the True North above.

TIP - To make the snow really pop in a night scene - use an Apollo UV dichroic in a Superholder.

Designed to be a companion to GAM's original TwinSpin, GAM Film/FX adds a continuous loop motion as opposed to the double rotation of the TwinSpin. The snap-in design, makes it easy to change the FX/Loop. The GAM Film/FX™ fits into the iris slot of an Altman Shakespeare, ETC Source Four or Strand spotlight.

GAM SX4 ®

Convert any ETC Source Four spotlight into a scenic projector (or gobo changer) with the GAM SX4 ® system. The Loop Tray allows the use of over 30 GAM pattern loops for scenic projection. Built for the heavier demands of theme parks, retail and architectural applications, the SX4 offers dependability and hundreds of off-the-shelf effects. The Loop Tray in the SX4 allows for a continuous moving effect - projecting clouds, rain, snow, fire, water ripples, waterfalls, etc. Speed and direction can be controlled from the Loop Tray, with built-in speed control and direction switch. The speed of the effects can also be controlled when the Loop Tray is plugged into a dimmer. For display applications, simply plug it into the main power and set your speed and direction; no light board is required.
